It’s important to be aware of intellectual property infringements when submitting images and adding image metadata. BigStockPhoto now posts a list of known problem words and potential infringements you should be aware of when submitting.

We also have a new ”Problem word alert” tool in the Uploaded Images Queue screen that warns you if any of your metadata contains these terms. If you see the alert, you should carefully review the alerts and make changes as needed.

The new Problem Keywords & Subjects list displays problem words that we all need to pay extra attention to. Please spend a few moments reading the list to gain a cursory understading of what some of these IP- and trademark-related problems are.

In most cases, we are not allowed to use these words within the image metadata. Often, we can use an image as Editorial only, but not as a standard license image. Submitters should not submit problem word metadata, as directed by this list, and approvers should not approve images that do not adhere to this list.
